cycling: Oleg Tinkov: "Contador is a piece of Spanish shit"

March 21, 2017 by the editorial office

Cycling / Spectrum: Oleg Tinkov actually retired from cycling after the end of his team. In recent months, things have been suspiciously quiet around the eccentric Russian, who has repeatedly made headlines in the past with verbal abuse. However, he recently showed on Instagram that the multi-millionaire has not become senile, where he wildly insulted his former team driver Alberto Contador.

With the demise of Team Tinkoff and the resignation of its impulsive team boss, the cycling circus lost a few headlines - did we miss it? Not necessarily, even if you can't deny the eccentric a certain entertainment factor. Unfortunately, he showed his worst side again on Instagram and kicked his former team driver Alberto Contador badly. In a post in which Tinkov was actually congratulating Peter Sagan on his strong season so far, he insulted Contador in the comments section: "Contador is a piece of Spanish shit and will never win anything. He's too old and too bad. His diet made him crazy and greedy.”

The attack comes as no surprise after Tinkov and his former star driver had already bickered publicly at the end of last season. After Contador's overall disappointing season, Tinkov had said the Spaniard would never win another Grand Tour. For his part, Contador countered that Tinkov would lack respect.

Alberto Contador is now a teammate of John Degenkolb at Trek-Segafredo.
