Unfortunately, he showed his worst side again on Instagram and kicked his former team driver Alberto Contador badly. In a post in which Tinkov was actually congratulating Peter Sagan on his strong season so far, he insulted Contador in the comments section: "Contador is a piece of Spanish shit and will never win anything. He's too old and too bad. His diet made him crazy and greedy.”
The attack comes as no surprise after Tinkov and his former star driver had already bickered publicly at the end of last season. After Contador's overall disappointing season, Tinkov had said the Spaniard would never win another Grand Tour. For his part, Contador countered that Tinkov would lack respect.
Alberto Contador is now a teammate of John Degenkolb at Trek-Segafredo.
