Cycling: Sir Bradley Wiggins hangs up his cycling shoes. The eight-time world champion on road and track announced in the evening that he no longer wanted to compete in the professional field in 2017. "Wiggo" announced his departure from the cycling stage on his Continental team's Facebook page. The 2012 Tour de France winner is one of Britain's greatest athletes in recent memory and was made a Knight Bachelor by the Queen in December 2012 for his achievements. Wiggins made one final mark in Rio, where he and his British team-mates dominated the track events, including a gold medal in the team pursuit.
A data leak at the World Anti-Doping Agency, which a Russian hacker team took advantage of, caused negative headlines.
