Product news: Mavic Vision - clothing for poor visibility in autumn and winter

23 November 2016 by Michael Faiss

Market: With the Mavic Vision product line, the traditional French manufacturer wants to appeal to those who don't let cool temperatures and short days keep them from cycling during autumn and winter. The developers paid particular attention to good visibility - not only at night, but also in the treacherous hours of twilight.

For all those who regularly ride their bikes during autumn and winter, the bad weather and poor visibility are a major challenge. Whether on the way to the office or during a winter training session: the days are short and the probability of being on the bike after dark is correspondingly high. In order to be clearly visible in traffic and to prevent possible accidents, the right clothing is crucial. Reflectors can now be found on a large part of cycling clothing, but the French manufacturer Mavic goes one step further with its Vision collection.

Anyone who regularly drives on the road – whether on two or four wheels – knows the treacherous light conditions at dusk. For cyclists, these 30-45 minutes twice a day are also so dangerous because conventional reflectors hardly have any effect and lose their glow in the twilight. Mavic has therefore thought about it and equips the entire Vision product line - from the vest to the helmet to the leg warmers - with two different reflector materials. In addition to the already familiar silver/white surfaces, all-round Mavic yellow reflective elements should improve visibility at dusk.

As is usual with Mavic, the new collection is primarily aimed at sporty riders: a narrow, body-hugging cut and good vapor permeability are just two of the consequences of the sporty orientation. One of the highlights of the Vision products is undoubtedly the Vision H2O Vest: This waterproof vest is a loyal companion in bad weather and when the training ride extends into the evening hours.

The new Cosmic Pro Vision helmet guarantees good all-round visibility and two different glove models (Vision Thermo Glove and Vision Mid-Season Glove) ensure warm fingers. Arm warmers, leg warmers, knee pads and overshoes complete the new Vision collection, which will be available in stores in the coming weeks.
