General: Preview: Start of the Six Day Series in London - start list and TV broadcast

24 October 2016 by the editorial office

Bahn News: For the first time this year, the Six-Day event series will take place. 24 teams of two compete in a total of five 6-day races and finally fight for the first victory of the Six Day Series in the grand finale on Mallorca in March. This is the first multi-event race format in six-day racing, which also includes the six-day race in Berlin in January. The starting shot will be given on October 25th at the Six Days London.

Already at the beginning of the year it became known that the ailing six-day race in Berlin had been taken over by the English Madison Sports Group, which had made it its task to bring a breath of fresh air into the six-day race cosmos. Part of, or rather the result of, these efforts is the new Six Day series, which will start tomorrow, October 25th with Six Days London. Four six-day races in London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Copenhagen will determine participation in the grand finale in March, which will take place on Mallorca.

A total of 24 teams of two will start at the races and will fight for every point and thus for one of the 12 places in the final. With Leif Lampater / Marcel Kalz and Christian Grasmann / Max Beyer, two German pairings are also involved. Not only in London, however, most eyes will be on the British duo Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins - not least because of the sensational performances on the track at the Olympic Games a few weeks ago.
