Market: The Meinerzhagen-based lighting specialist Busch + Müller has two new, extremely bright battery lights up its sleeve for the coming year. The IQ-X Speed is based on the IQ-X dynamo headlight, but gets its power from an external battery pack. Despite its compact dimensions and integrated battery, the compact IXON Space brings up to 150 lux onto the street.
Busch + Müller IQ-X Speed: Chic, sporty, bright
Two years ago, Busch + Müller not only presented the IQ-X, the first dynamo headlight that brought more than 100 lux to the ground, but also gave it an extremely high-quality and robust aluminum housing. In 2017, the wishes of many customers were heard and the high-performance headlight was combined with an external battery pack. The lamp, dubbed IQ-X Speed, even has a little more power than the prototype and is said to deliver up to 150 lux in the highest mode. Thanks to the potent rechargeable battery, there is still around 5 hours of lighting time. If not quite as much light is needed, the IQ-X Speed can even last 30 hours in the 25 lux LowPower mode. As usual from Busch + Müller, the IQ-X Speed also comes with StVZO approval for all bicycles.
With the new high-performance battery-powered spotlight, the aim is to specifically address a sporty audience: not only the robust exterior speaks for it, but also the universal mounting options. In addition to the included handlebar mount, the IQ-X Speed also fits all GoPro mounts - ideal for mounting on a helmet, for example. The external battery can also do more than the inconspicuous exterior would suggest. A second output allows you to connect a second IQ-X Speed and the PowerBank mode charges any USB device.
The Busch + Müller IQ-X Speed will be available in stores in 2017 at an RRP of €249.
Busch + Mueller IXON Space
The new IXON Space is much more compact but no less bright. According to Busch + Müller, this is the most powerful LED headlight with an integrated battery to date. Despite the compact dimensions and the integrated battery, the IXON Space achieves an impressive 150 lux at the highest level - and that over a period of more than two hours! The German manufacturer is also particularly proud of the light field: It covers a very large area and is therefore ideal for use in completely dark areas.
It is operated via a digital touch slider on the top, which can be used to continuously adjust the brightness from 10 to 150 lux. At the lowest level, the battery lasts about 30 hours. If you are unsure how full the battery is, just take a look at the top of the light: a digital display shows the exact remaining light duration at the current brightness. The battery can be conveniently charged via micro-USB and there is also a PowerBank function here, which can be used to charge USB devices on the IXON Space while on the go.
The headlamp, which is very robust thanks to the surrounding rubber coating, is StVZO approved and will be available from 2017 at a price of €199.
