Cycling: At the end of the season, the sponsor Lampre-Merida withdraws from the first-class cycling circus and with it the last Italian team. The successor team TJ Sports will start with a Chinese license and has nevertheless grabbed two Italians: Marco Marcato (Wanty) and Andrea Guardini (Astana) will drive alongside Darwin Atapuma (BMC) in 2017. However, Haimar Zubeldia and Laurent Didier have extended their contracts with the Trek-Segafredo team, as have Imanol Erviti, José Joaquin Rojas, Winner Anacona and Rory Sutherland with the Movistar team.
