Market / Eurobike: Although disc brakes have become a little quieter in the professional sector in recent months, development has of course not stood still. The US manufacturer Parlee Cycles showed this impressively at the Eurobike with its new TTiR: The first series-produced triathlon bike that was consistently developed for use with disc brakes. There was also the Eurobike Gold Award for so much courage and innovation.
The small American manufacturer Parlee Cycles has been building carbon frames for more than 15 years - but the bikes should be familiar to insiders and enthusiasts in particular, especially in Europe. However, this could now change, after all, the Eurobike Gold Award, the biggest conceivable award, was presented a few days ago at the world's largest bicycle fair. The reason for this is the new TTiR, an uncompromising triathlon and time trial machine that has been consistently developed and optimized for use with disc brakes.
Above all, the system integration of the new braking system plays a decisive role. The brake calipers disappear behind aerodynamically positioned and shaped covers, which also give the bike an interesting look. It was important to the developers to build a bike that was not just a feasibility study, but a fully practical racing machine. “It was important to us not just to show an interesting study, but to develop a purchasable production bike. We have succeeded in doing this with the new TTiR, and this world premiere innovation will be available from the end of the year,” says company founder Bob Parlee.
There are currently no details on the certainly salty price of the Parlee TTiR, the bike will probably be available in Europe at the beginning of 2017.
