Spectrum / E-Performance: Together with Allianz, Derby Cycle is now offering buyers of Focus, Univega, Kalkhoff, Raleigh and Rixe e-bikes a comprehensive insurance package. This not only guarantees a replacement in the event of an accident or theft, but also includes a mobility guarantee.
Finding the right insurance cover for your beloved two-wheeler is not easy. E-bikes in particular cost as much as a used small car and the fear of theft or accidental damage is correspondingly high among buyers. So far, comprehensive protection has been difficult or impossible to find - this is about to change, at least for buyers of e-bikes from the Derby Cycle Group. If you opt for an e-bike from the brands Focus, Univega, Kalkhoff, Raleigh or Rixe, you can optionally arm yourself with the "protect-a-bike" insurance cover for possible accidents.
Protect-a-bike was designed in cooperation with Allianz and specially tailored to the needs of e-bikers. "We want to further expand our access to the target group of e-bikers and cyclists and thus win new private customers," says project manager Manfred Köckhuber, explaining the motivation of the alliance.
Protect-a-bike Insurance - What's in it?
As with any insurance, the crucial questions are: What is included and how high are the costs? Let's first come to the latter: The Protect-a-bike package costs €3.000 for new bikes up to a purchase price of €199, and €299 for more expensive bikes. The protection runs for three years from the date of purchase and includes the following:
- In the event of an accident, the repair costs are borne in full – regardless of who is at fault
- In the event of theft, the insurance company replaces the bike completely
- Motor and battery are insured against technical defects over the term (3 years).
- Mobility insurance: If the e-bike is left behind, transport costs (taxi or train) are covered up to €250
