MTB cycling: The BDR (Association of German Cyclists) has announced the line-up for the Cross-Country Mountain Bike World Championships in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic. The 23-strong squad is led by Sabine Spitz, who came third in the European Championship.
The initial situations could hardly be more different than this year. While the women delivered their performances to the point in the run-up to the World Cup, the men did not really get going. It remains to be seen to what extent and if at all the knot will burst at the 27th UCI Mountain Bike World Championships. Eight elite drivers and seven U23 drivers will start in Nove Mesto, and eight U19 athletes have also been nominated by junior national coach Marc Schäfer. However, Vinzent Dorn, Nina Benz and Lia Schrievers of the juniors first have to prove their performance again at the KMC Bundesliga race in Heubach.
