Market: The wheel specialists from ZIPP presented four new wheels to the public today. In addition to the high-tech ZIPP 303 NSW model, the Firecrest model series will now also have wheels for disc brakes and there will also be a strictly limited disc wheel designed by Team Canyon//SRAM.
ZIPP 303 NSW: High-tech all-rounder
A few weeks ago, the US-Americans from ZIPP already presented the NSW 404 wheelset: Developed in the high-tech laboratory "The Nest", these wheels should represent the spearhead of the current development of modern carbon fiber wheels. With the 303 NSW, the aero wheels now also have a model with a lower rim: the height of 45mm (ZIPP 404 NSW: 58mm) not only makes the wheels lighter, but also significantly less susceptible to cross winds - even if you take a look at the aerodynamics have to accept some losses.
The low rims make the clincher wheelset a very good all-rounder that also feels comfortable on longer climbs. In addition, ZIPP promises a very robust construction that should easily withstand the daily strains of training. As with the 404 NSW, the Cognition hubs from our own company are also used here. Their special construction in connection with high-quality bearings promises a very low rolling resistance. In addition, you don't have to do without the Showstopper brake flanks, the Sawtooth rim surface or the ImPress graphics on the 303 NSW.

ZIPP Firecrest 404 and 808 Disc Brake: Evergreens now also for discs
The Firecrest wheels from ZIPP have actually been among the most popular and best-selling aero wheels on the market since their introduction. For 2016 the Firecrest 404 and 808 are now also available for disc brakes. Disc brakes have also arrived on the streets at the latest with the opening of the pro peloton at the beginning of the year. While many traditional wheelsets have been available with brake disc mounts since last season, the aero range is currently quite limited - that will change this summer.
Both wheels come with the 77/177D hubs, which can be easily converted to all axle standards and will also be available with ceramic bearings as an option. When it comes to rims, buyers can choose between tubular and clincher – in the future, there will probably no longer be any complaints about a lack of choice, even if the Firecrest wheels with prices well over €2.000 are certainly not suitable for everyone.

ZIPP Super-9 disc in Canyon//SRAM design
Last but not least, ZIPP announced today that they will be offering a strictly limited version of their Super 9 disc wheel in the Canyon//SRAM team design. Colour-coordinated with the Rapha Jersey of the Women's WorldTour team, which also includes Lisa Brennauer and Trixi Worrack, who recently suffered a serious fall. The large decals of the optically unique wheel were worked directly into the carbon fibers with the in-house ImPress technology. This keeps the aerodynamic surface intact.
