General: [Video] Helmet camera Rachel Atherton final run UCI MTB DH Worldcup Lourdes

14 April 2016 by Andrew Waldera

MTB cycling: Last weekend the 2016 UCI MTB DH Worldcup season started in Lourdes, France. With a bit of luck, American Aaron Gwin (THE YT MOB) was able to win the men’s race, Rachel Atherton (Trek Factory Racing DH ) with the precision of a razor blade for first place. Equipped with a helmet camera, the Brit lets us be a part of her flawless, final run.

The start of the 2016 UCI MTB DH Worldcup in Lourdes was dominated by two men in particular: the reigning champion Aaron Gwin and his challenger Loic Bruni (Specialized Gravity powered by SRAM). A gripping and dramatic duel that absolutely lived up to his expectations. With a three second lead over Aaron Gwin, Loic Bruni crashed in the final third of the course. This fall threw the Frenchman, who would otherwise have been sure of a home win, down to 14th place. But that's how Aaron Gwin benefited, who, with his first win in the still fresh 2016 season, was able to score important points on his account. Joining Aaron Gwin on the podium were Canadian Steve Smith (Devinci Global Racing) and Brit Danny Hart (MS Mondraker Team). For the women, the podium was completely in British hands. With a fantastic run, Rachel Atherton won ahead of Tahnee Seagrave (Transition Factory Racing / FMD) and Manon Carpenter (Madison Saracen Factory Team).
