Spectrum: Cycle Marathon Cup 2016: The dates and events at a glance

27 April 2016 by Andrew Waldera

Racing bike / mass sport: On May 1st, the BDR Cycle Marathon Cup 2016 traditionally starts the new season with the Josef-Oster Cycle Marathon. The pinnacle of mass sport, which is already in its 27th edition this year, has 21 attractive events in store across the whole of Germany.

Over 130 clubs are involved in organizing the 21 events within the BDR Cycle Marathon Cup. The aim is to offer cyclists challenging, attractive and low-traffic day tours with a route length of over 200 kilometers. There is no official timekeeping at the cycle marathons, only the arrival at the finish line counts for the participants. This year, too, the starters can once again rely on exemplary organization and execution of the events. Good signposting of the routes is a matter of course at the BDR Cycle Marathon Cup, as are catering along the way, breakdown service and first aid. As a special incentive, multiple starters of the cup will receive the coveted finisher jersey after five successfully completed cycling marathons. For every cycle marathon completed, six points are also included in the RTF annual rating.
