Archive: Review: KTM Macina Compact 8-RT 24

The "Bosch Active" motor pushes with unusual force

With its 24-inch wheels, the KTM is between normal e-bikes and "real" compact models. The seat post can be lowered using the quick release, the stem mast (with 5 centimeter height adjustment) can be folded down to the side; this makes the wheel (and looks) rather low than narrow. At the back of the saddle is a large handle that makes handling much easier. The "Active" drive from Bosch works hard and pushes really hard, especially on the mountain. You sit upright and quite unfamiliar on the manoeuvrable, but also somewhat “restless” bike; the rigid fork makes the front appear rather hard. However, the bike is well equipped with a very bright headlight and solid hydraulic brakes plus coaster pedal.

The 24 inch wheel is a good choice for small adults
