Market: The racing compressor from SKS-Germany is 50 years old (Velomotion reported). The Sauerland-based company has now announced details of the anniversary edition.
In 1966, the then SKS operations manager, Walter Scheffer, developed a floor pump for professional cycling. However, the racing compressor not only convinced professional mechanics, but also found its way into millions of workshops and hobby rooms. The floor pump can now look back on 50 years of cycling history, is technically manufactured almost unchanged under the quality seal "Made in Germany" and is one of the products that has been available on the bicycle market for the longest time. Those responsible celebrate this success story SKS Germany with an anniversary edition of the Rennkompressor.
The limited and numbered special edition comes in the original red of the first edition, an iconic wooden handle and the traditional brass plug-in nipple as the valve head. A wall holder made of fine leather enables stylish and tidy storage. Other features of the high-quality anniversary edition are an extra-long high-pressure hose, cast steel base, solid steel tube, foldable feet for better transport and a precision pressure gauge up to 16 bar or 230 psi.
The special edition of the racing compressor will be available in stores from June 2016. The recommended retail price is 74,99 euros. The high price of a pump at first glance is put into perspective by the proven long-term durability and resilience. Almost all individual parts are also replaceable. In practice, experience has shown that you only need a new rubber valve now and then.
By the way: Anyone who has had good experiences with the Rennkompressor and writes a short story or quote about it, shoots a short video or closes a meaningful photo and sends it to SKS can win one of three anniversary Rennkompressors.
