Popular sport: Short but sweet: On September 24, 2016, the SaysCyclassics will take place, according to the organizers, the "toughest cycling race in the Eastern Alps". Originating from the Madruns Classic cycling event, the participants in the mountain time trial can expect an altitude difference of 525 meters - and that with a route length of just under 4,5 kilometers.
The exciting race format is basically an individual time trial with a team classification. A team consists of three to six drivers, and the three best individual times are counted. However, participation in the SaysCyclassics is also possible for individual riders without a team. The start mode of the race ensures excitement: The participants are sent onto the track at intervals of 30 seconds.
The starting point of the race marks the village center of Trimmis, which has just over 3000 inhabitants. In eight hairpin bends and an average incline of 11,6%, the paved band meanders via Valtanna to Obersays at 1157 meters above sea level. Another special incentive for fitter cyclists is likely to be the jackpot chance when breaking the course record.
However, further innovations are planned for this year's bike race: For example, there will be a new team category e-bike. The (perhaps) toughest bike race in the Eastern Alps is therefore also suitable for cyclists who cannot or do not want to intervene quite as hard in what is happening. Both cyclists and spectators can look forward to Graubünden-style food and drink. A shuttle service will be set up especially for visitors to the event.
Registration for the SaysCyclassics 2016 is now possible on the event's Internet portal.
