General: Prostyle Cycle Camp with TUI Cruises logbook #6: Time to say Goodbye

22 November 2015 by Michael Faiss

Blog: Time to say Goodbye! Today was the sixth and last day of the Prostyle Cycle Camp, before the participants and crew set off again from Gran Canaria to cold Germany, Austria or Switzerland tomorrow during the course of the day. Today was all about the wind: we were on Fuerteventura.

This morning, the Cycle Camp participants gathered one last time at the pier in front of the TUI Mein Schiff 4 to face the already fiercely whipping wind on Fuerteventura. Like yesterday, there were two routes to choose from today: Both led into the interior of the island over flat, undulating terrain. The long route, covering 105km, cracked the 1.000hm mark, while the shorter variant reached about 75hm after 600km.

However, both routes had in common the first flat 25km along the coast in the merciless headwind, which makes Fuerteventura a training Mecca for many triathletes and a surfer's paradise. Both groups took it a little easier today than in the previous days and enjoyed the last day at a warm 25°C.

Especially on the last descent back to the port, the wind made things difficult for all drivers. Again and again violent gusts caused the wheels to wobble. The sometimes bad and extremely rough road surface didn't make things any easier - but everyone mastered this test with flying colors and by 14:30 p.m. everyone was back on board.

In the afternoon, we packed our bikes together on the sun deck. Guido again supported the participants with advice and action – when can you say that a professional mechanic helped pack your own bike? Accordingly, numerous participants gladly accepted this support.

When all the bikes were safely stowed away in their respective suitcases, bags and boxes, the Prostyle boys and girls brought all the luggage back to our bike cellar, from where the Mein Schiff 4 service staff took the bags down to the terminal on the pier early in the morning will bring. Super Service!

At the end, everyone met again at 18.00:26 p.m. in one of the numerous bars on the ship. After a short speech and summary by Björn, the XNUMX participants spread out and were deep in the respective conversations. After the e-mail addresses had been exchanged at the end, everyone said goodbye one by one – and the Prostyle Cycle Camp was officially over.

It was a great week with many great tours, numerous meters in altitude, great service on the ship and successful organization. It is also rumored that there will be a repeat soon. If the blog has whetted your appetite, you should keep coming back to the Prostyle website drop by.
