Recently I was allowed to test ride Mavic's CXR-Line, which is specially designed for fast, flat tracks and time trials. Starting with the hardware such as helmet, shoes and wheels, there is also the perfect clothing for maximum performance on flat terrain.
About the pants: The legs of these aero pants are particularly long, which took a bit of getting used to for me, but with the pros you almost only see suits that reach to the knee, especially in time trials. Thanks to the "Ergo Grip SL" hem, the bottom of the pants fits perfectly and doesn't slip a millimeter. It's also hardly noticeable and doesn't constrict. The high cut on the chest is also unusual at first, but thanks to the practical zips, the performance is also perfect off the bike.
The seat pad (Ergo 3D Pro) is perfectly optimized for a low sitting position and is slightly thicker than the other Mavic pants, which is very comfortable in the aero position. The "Skin Power" material is particularly robust, but super comfortable to wear. It gives the impression of offering special protection in the event of a fall, which is not a disadvantage.
The jersey makes a stiff impression when you first attack it - at least the membrane used on the chest (CX Shell) This bonded membrane is a technological marvel, when stretched it offers perfect ventilation, but always retains its exemplary aerodynamic properties. The Mavic CXR is one of the most aerodynamic jerseys on the market. Breathability is also enhanced by "Micro Vent" - that's micro perforation in the right places that optimizes ventilation exactly where it's needed.
At least as interesting as the CX Shell is "Coldblack". This material from the Swiss manufacturer Schöller has the properties of not absorbing any heat despite its black color and also offers perfect UV protection. "Air Mesh" ensures perfect elasticity on the side parts of the jersey - this means that the membrane sits so well on the body, but not tight. The "Flash Material" has an incredibly fast moisture release, so you always have a dry feeling on the skin.
As soon as the CXR jersey sits on the body, it convinces with a perfect fit. It sits very close to the body, feels like a neoprene suit, but still cools very well, which you wouldn't necessarily expect from the strong membrane in the chest area. The sleeves are a bit longer, clearly for an aero jersey. There is also a version with long sleeves, the CXR is priced at 160€ - not little money for a jersey, but with the features and properties it is certainly a worthwhile investment for all friends of speed.
The CXR line ensures perfect aerodynamics for all parts without sacrificing the comfort and performance of the individual parts. Shoes, helmet, gloves, jersey, pants - plus the right CRX wheels - that definitely makes its owner faster on the bike - even if it's only due to the placebo effect! 😉
