Spectrum: Tour Transalp 2015 – Great conclusion for Velomotion and Prostyle teams

July 5, 2015 by Marcus Degen

After seven stages, the 13th Transalp Tour ended on Saturday – a remarkable tour, above all because the riders were out and about in bright sunshine almost continuously from the first to the last stage, and the great heat sometimes even hit them hard. A remarkable tour also because Velomotion had its own team at the start of a major sporting event for the first time. Together with AX-Lightness we supported Holger Sievers and Gerrit Glomser, who were wearing the black and gold Velomotion jerseys.

In the end, the two ex-professionals finished fifth in the Masters ranking and showed that having fun instead of dogged training is enough to get to the top ... if you were a professional cyclist, mind you. Of course, our two heroes also benefited from the excellent support from the Prostyle support team. They look after a maximum of ten teams with an all-round carefree package that includes hotel and luggage transfers, meals and massages. The list of results proves very impressively that the supervisors from Prostyle are doing a great job. The top two teams overall, Belgians Bart Bury & Kristof Houben and Frederic Glorieux & Bob Michels (Team AX Lightness I and II) both enlisted the services of Prostyle and clinched a superior one-two. Their lead at the finish in Arco was 16 minutes.

For all those who are wondering how it is that Holger Sievers (right) and Gerrit Glomser (left) are the Velomotion team, I would like to briefly explain this at the end of this small series:
For me personally, Holger Sievers will always be a very special professional. In 2004 he was the first active professional driver I was allowed to interview in detail for a big story for my then magazine Procycling.
For a long time I have been meeting Gerrit Glomser regularly once a year at the cycle marathon in the Tannheimer Tal, where we are both friends with the organizer Michael Keller and have been happy and passionately supporting this great event since the first event.
