cycling: Queen's stage of the Tour Transalp: "When will there be coke again?"

July 1, 2015 by Marcus Degen

The king's stage of the Tour Transalp was on the agenda today. From Livigno to Aprica, 142 meters of altitude had to be overcome over a distance of 3.500 km, which demanded everything from everyone in summer temperatures. Among other things, Giro legends such as the Gavia and the Mortirolo had to be mastered. The riders alone collected more than 1.400 vertical meters on the roof of this year's Transalp up to the Passo Gavia in the approximately 26-kilometer climb.

IMG_3075Despite the early 25am start and the high mountains, temperatures quickly soared above XNUMX degrees and the sun was relentless, making hydration the most important thing for the riders during the stage. At the aid stations, especially towards the end of the stage, Coke was at the top of every rider's wish list. Prostyle's mobile catering service has thus become a vital point of contact for drivers who actually use the Prostyle service package IMG_3076had not booked. The Prostyle car's reserves of fluid were depleted faster than the nearest supermarket could be raided.

These demanding conditions showed once again that the experience of the two ex-pros Holger Sievers and Gerrit Glomser can make the big difference. The two drove an outstanding fourth in the Masters class today IMG_3078One place and thus consolidated fifth place overall for the Velomotion-AX Lightness team.
