The first days of training here in the Dolomites have already been mastered, yesterday the last participants from the various races arrived. Now we are complete, with 11 drivers here in the Melodia del Bosco Hotel represent and enjoy the wonderful weather conditions and the perfect hotel services with fantastic food, wellness and cycling services.
Yesterday on Sunday we did a wonderful lap over the Falzarego, then up the steep side of the Fedaia Passen, where the team riders started sweating in the hot conditions for the first time. Once at the top, we enjoyed the view of the Marmolada and the other mountain peaks in the region. Then it was on to Passo Sella and Passo Gardena back to the hotel in Alta Badia.
Today was a rest day for me after 4 hard training days and I started with my more relaxed team riders on the Sella Ronda. It was wonderful - not too hot and at a totally relaxed pace we cranked up the Campololgo, then followed by the Pordoijoch, Sellajoch and finally we went back over the Gardena Pass. My 3 heroes stayed together great and were very homogeneous in terms of performance - a dream for the guide! 😀
Together with the stronger group, which, among other things, cycled the Passo di Giau today, we are now sitting together on the hotel terrace with muesli and pasta and enjoying the beautiful afternoon. Put your feet up, sip coffee and later, when the thunderstorm comes, a dip in the wellness facility - life here in the training camp is simply a dream!
The next few days we will train properly before we have a rest day on Friday, because after all the batteries are supposed to be used for the Dolomiti Supergiro yes be really full. With the excellent food here in the hotel, it won't be difficult - every morning and evening we feast and enjoy - just yesterday there was a gala dinner, soon there will be a special Ladin dinner, which we are very excited about.
I'm already looking forward to a few more great training days with my team riders and I'm totally happy that everything here is so good and that the fun is happening again. It's just great how well the squad is already welded together, the team events and training camps have had their full effect and the drivers understand each other blindly. It can go on like this and everyone is looking forward to a great week and the highlight at the end - the Dolomiten Supergiro in Lienz.
