Cycling: There are two premieres taking place on June 20th and 21st, 2015 in Kirchberg/Tyrol, Austria: With the UEC MTB Enduro European Championships, European Championships will not only be held for the first time in the history of the young racing discipline, but the first one at all official titles in this category.
Drivers from around 20 European nations will take to the track in the Tyrolean Unterland in the race for the historic title. Who will be crowned the first European Enduro Champion and the first European Enduro Champion in history? Registration for the European Championship premiere has recently opened and is still possible until June 16th – the countdown is on!
The host of the first official UEC Enduro European Championships is Kirchberg/Tyrol in Austria. Not without reason, after all, the region already has a lot of experience with major mountain bike events. The KitzAlp Bike Festival takes place here every year and celebrated one of its highlights with the hosting of the UCI MTB Marathon World Championships in 2013. For three years now, enduro races have also been a fixed part of the festival and the region is therefore optimally tested for enduro.
When the best enduro riders in Europe compete for this title for the first time in June, it will of course be duly celebrated. For example at the official arrival of the nations as part of the Incity Prologue on Saturday in the village center of Kirchberg. Spectators can experience mountain bike action up close when bikers from all over Europe fight for the best starting positions and the first time advantage. Over steps and narrow alleys, the drivers go from the church square down to the town center, where the national flags are already waiting to be hoisted by the athletes.
Sunday is race day! Five timed stages and a total of almost 40 kilometers of race track on single trails and transfer stages are on the to-do list of the participants. A special highlight right at the beginning: From the start and finish area at the Fleckalmbahn, the participants are sent straight into the first special stage against the clock. The spectators are so close to the racing action that they can smell the sweat of the scene stars and feel the dirt of the track.
The race will be decided on the Fleckalmtrail, where the ultimate final test awaits the participants with Stage #5. Equipped with a downhill timer, the starting order of this final section is based on the intermediate time after four special stages have been driven. The fastest 50 riders will then start in reversed order. Excitement is not only guaranteed for the spectators, who can loudly root for the decision of the first Enduro European Championship 2015; as soon as you cross the finish line, it is immediately clear who has won.
Well-known names such as Remy Absalon (FRA) or one of the world's best enduro riders, Anneeke Beerten from the Netherlands, as well as the German state champion Ines Thoma have already entered the starting list of the UEC MTB Enduro European Championships. Registration for the UEC Enduro European Championships has recently opened for all licensed riders and is still possible until June 16th - the countdown is on.
