Product news: Sram Rail 40: new wheels for enduro riders

5 May 2015 by the editorial office

Market: Sram has been offering several MTB wheels for a long time. The main differences are in terms of weight and robustness. With the Rail 40 wheels, the Rail 50 is now accompanied by a wheel set that is significantly cheaper and yet is in no way inferior in terms of robustness and weight.

According to Sram, the Rail 40 should set new standards in its class in terms of stiffness, weight and balance. The wheels are available in 27.5″ and 29″ and come with 23 millimeter wide, asymmetrical rims. This special shape allows Sram to use spokes of the same length and to balance the wheel better and create a more even tension.

The well-known Double Time System is used in the rear wheel hub, with a total of 52 clicks per revolution and therefore short idle travel.
When it comes to compatibility, the Rail 40 are true all-rounders. The following standards can be installed with the wheels:

Front wheel: QR 9×100, QR Torque Caps, 15×100, 15×100 Torque Caps, 20×110, 15×110, 15×110 Torque Caps
Rear wheel: QR 10×135, 12×135,12×135 XD, 12×142, 12×142 XD,12×148, 12×148 XD
