Cycling: The 33-year-old Trixi Worrack (Velocio-Sram) from Cottbus was able to win the overall ranking of the women's AMGEN Tour of California thanks to a strong performance on the last day of the tour. Lauren Komanski (Twenty16), who was still the overall leader on the second day, fell back to third place.
Worrack was extremely strong again on the final day in Sacramento, securing all three bonus sprints on the downtown circuit. The woman from Cottbus was able to have a time credit of nine seconds credited to her account, while the American got nothing. The gap of three seconds that had existed until then turned into a lead of six seconds for Worrack. Leah Kirchmann (Optum-Kelly) won the day's classification again and, to Komanski's chagrin, received another ten bonus seconds. As a result, the Canadian was one second ahead of Komanski in the overall standings. The other two German women came in 12th (Kathrin Hammes) and 49th (Lisa Brennauer) in the overall standings.
