Market: The Shimano 105 group is characterized by reliable and long-lasting performance - and at an affordable price. The new hydraulic disc brakes at Shimano 105 level should fully meet this high requirement. The new model for the mid-range segment is designed to offer racing cyclists top performance.
The Shimano disc brakes at 105 level promise the highest, but still perfectly controllable braking performance in all weather conditions. With proven and further developed technologies of the first two generations, the new model is extremely compact and slim. The new hydraulic-mechanical ST-RS505 shift/brake levers are designed to ensure maximum ergonomics. The small grip diameter and the lever, which can be adjusted by 1 cm in grip width, are also very suitable for drivers with smaller hands.
The new flat mount brake caliper BR-RS505 is characterized by a slim and sporty design. For more efficient cable routing, the brake line is connected to the inside of the brake caliper. The funnel ventilation and the one-way ventilation system should enable easy and clean maintenance of the system. In addition to the new BR-RS505 flat mount brake caliper, Shimano also offers an ULTEGRA level flat mount brake caliper. Both brake calipers stand out visually from MTB brake calipers and can be recognized as specific road bike components.
The ICE-TECH technology of the new SM-RT81-SS brake discs should guarantee optimal heat dissipation. This is achieved through a three-layer sandwich structure consisting of an aluminum core with two layers of stainless steel. The brake disc is available in several sizes, including a diameter of 140 mm. The BR-RS805 flat-mount brake caliper at ULTEGRA level will be available from July; interested parties will have to wait until October 105 for the shift/brake levers and the flat-mount brake caliper at 2015 level. The combination of BR-RS505 and ST-RS505 is compatible with all mechanical 11-speed shifting systems from Shimano.
