Spectrum: Only 100 starting places left for Großglockner mountain duathlon

April 21, 2015 by the editorial office

Grossglockner1

Spectrum: On July 18th and 19th, the Großglockner mountain duathlon will take place for the first time ever (we reported). After the traditional mountain run is already fully booked and more than 500 places have also been reserved for the Bike Challenge, those interested in duathlon must also hurry: There are just under 100 starting places left.

The mountain duathlon classification is limited to 400 participants and combines the long-established classifications mountain running and bike challenge - a very special challenge. More than 300 participants from 13 countries have already registered. It shouldn't be too long before the duathlon will be sold out: “The Grossglockner Berglauf is sold out for the first time. As already suspected, the duathlon ranking will also be sold out in the next few weeks." says organizer Julius Rupitsch.

The mountain run and bike challenge both start in Heiligenblut. While the mountain run takes participants on forest highways and trails over 12,9km and just under 1.500Before the route leads to the Franz Josef Höhe, a very special highlight awaits cyclists: the car-free Grossglockner High Alpine Road. This road will take participants 17,3 km and 1.345 meters of elevation gain, offering magnificent panoramic views.
