Product news: The first pictures of the Last Herb 650B

March 4, 2015 by the editorial office

Market: Last Bikes announced a new version of their Last Herbs 160 last year. Where the journey should go, however, was not revealed. Now the Dortmund company is giving away the first details and pictures of the frame.

Last Bikes also relies on 650B wheels for the new version of the successful model. However, the basic features and above all the unique deflection remain with the frame. Despite the larger wheels, we managed not to have to lengthen the rear end. Thanks to a new rear triangle construction, the chainstay stays at a length of 26 millimeters, like on the 428-inch model.

The kinematics are designed in such a way that both fine response behavior, good support in the middle spring travel range and bottoming out protection could be realized in one frame. The frame will continue to offer two mounting points for the shock, which means that a spring travel of 160 or 180 millimeters can be selected.

In the course of the redesign of all frame components, reducing the weight while maintaining stability, rigidity and durability played a central role.
The very significant weight reduction was made possible thanks to the use of new aluminum alloys, special profile cross-sections and the increased processing effort in the CNC production of the components. The tried-and-tested roller bearings have not been reduced in size and the damper installation dimensions have also been retained.

As a new feature, the frame will have a bottle holder mount on the down tube. ISCG chain guide attachment and the option of mounting seat posts with internal cable are a matter of course. The Herb is also being offered for the first time in frame size XL for riders over 1,90 meters tall.
