Cycling: Registration for the season opener of the Specialized-SRAM Enduro Series in Treuchtlingen opened today. However, if you want to register for the complete series, you can do so starting today.
The Specialized-SRAM Enduro Series starts this year where the European series left off last year. Treuchtlingen is the start of the series' racing calendar and will definitely deliver a great event. Seven stages await the participants and despite or perhaps because of the low mountain range, there is plenty of trail fun on offer.
The first races of the year in particular are always crowded, especially when it comes to the start in Treuchtlingen. Not only the gathered German enduro elite is expected in the Altmühltal, also some of the international greats will be represented at the starting line. But of course the race has also made a name for itself among many hobby drivers in the past.
Last year's winner of the Elite Women class, Anneke Beerten (NED - Specialized Racing), is unlikely to compete as she is still in California at the time, so her closest competitor Raphaela Richter (GER - Radon Factory ) may already have a good cushion on their points account. In the Elite Men class, on the other hand, things look a little different, because there the top placings of 2014 are guaranteed to be all there right from the start and there will be a serious fight for points.
Last year, none other than Nicolas Lau (FRA - Cube Action Team) and Birgit Braumann (AUT - Trek Gravity Girls), who thus secured the title of series winner, immortalized themselves in the winner statistics of the chroniclers of the organizing club RC Germania Weißenburg.
There are still about 8 weeks until we can finally breathe racing air again. The off-season training plans should be reflected in the physical condition by now, but nobody knows where they really stand until the first race. We're looking forward to the start of the season with excitement and we're sure to pay close attention to the list of participants, which will soon be filling up. Registration will be possible from February 24th at 17.00 p.m. New functions have been available on the website since this week. On the one hand there is now the long-awaited series registration, on the other hand there is also the often requested team manager account. So if you want to drive the whole series and don't want to go through the hassle of registering for each individual race, you can now do this very easily, but you need a premium account on the website for this.
