Tabor: The women started their title races on Saturday afternoon in snow and cold temperatures. In an exciting fight, Pauline Ferrand-Pervot was able to win the third world championship title in a row in the sprint. She was able to relegate the Belgian Sanne Cant to second place on the home stretch. Behind her was last year's winner Marianne Vos.
After the start, Frenchwoman Lucie Chainel-Lefevre initially took the lead and put pressure on the favourites, who formed up in a larger group behind them. Ferrand-Pervot, Vos, Cant and Nash took over the tracking work alternately. In the second lap, this formed a large leading group, from which the female riders attacked again and again. In the third lap, Pauline Ferrand-Prevot was able to pull away on her own, only Sanne Cent was able to catch up to her in the course of the lap. The two riders fought an exciting battle. Despite many attempts, none of them could shake off the other, so they drove to the home stretch together. Sanne Cant was narrowly beaten by the reigning road world champion.
Behind the two strongest of the day, Marianne Vos, Katherina Nash and Nikki Harris also fought a great duel in which Marianne Vos had the happier hand in the end. Nikki Harris could not keep up and Katherina Nash fell twice in the final 600m, forfeiting a podium finish.
The two German starters drove a spirited race, but were not able to fight for the top places either. Jessica Lambracht finished the race in 24th place, Lisa Heckmann finished 40 seconds later in 29th place.
