Market: Mavic is starting the 2015 season with two road bike wheelsets specially designed for disc use. In addition to the Ksyrium Pro Disc for ambitious road racers, the French manufacturer also offers the Aksium One Disc for beginners.
Ksyrium Pro Disc
Mavic promises epic road bike adventures with the Ksyrium Pro Disc. 15 years of experience in optimizing disc wheels have gone into this wheel. Based on the proven Ksyrium SL, the special requirements of using disc brakes were taken into account when developing the impeller. Extra-light ISM 4D rims with a disc brake-specific rim profile, high-tensile Zicral spokes and torsion-resistant hubs that are compatible with 15 mm thru axles are used. The result is, according to the manufacturer, an ultra-robust impeller with a very low weight. The pair is said to tip the scales at just 1535 grams, with the front wheel accounting for 680 grams and the rear wheel 855 grams. Available as a wheel set for 1000 euros or individually for 450 euros (front wheel) and 550 euros (rear wheel).
Aksium One Disc
Mavic has the Aksium One Disc for beginners at a very attractive price. Despite a very low purchase price, this impeller does not have to do without good quality. The Aksium One Disc has easy-to-maintain industrial bearings and a robust rim with a pinned rim joint. The straight spokes should also provide more stability. By using wider rims, the racer has a larger selection of tires and tire sizes. The specified weight of 1965 grams is divided between the front wheel with 890 grams and the rear wheel with 1075 grams. The wheelset is available for 200 euros. Individually, the front wheel costs 90 euros and the rear wheel 110 euros.
