8 December 2014 by Rick Schubert

Cycling: Julien Absalon has not had a good start to the offseason. The 2014 XC World Cup overall winner broke his collarbone at a regional cyclocross race and is temporarily out of action.

Julien Absalon posted photos from the hospital on his Facebook fan page yesterday. The fast Frenchman fell badly during a cyclocross race and suffered bruised ribs and a broken collarbone. It is currently not known whether Absalon will be operated on or whether the fracture will be treated conventionally. However, Absalon has more than enough time before his season starts. His season doesn't start until next May, giving him a good six months to fully recover and prepare for the season.

On Absalons Facebook fan page he keeps his fans up to date.
