Cycling: As Trek announced in a press release today, Jens Voigt will remain with the team after retiring. He will support the team in an advisory capacity starting with the Tour Down Under in January.
As a consultant, he will be responsible for looking after the drivers, whether as a motivator or as a training assistant. The young drivers in particular can thus benefit from the great experience of the 43-year-old. Voigt is currently staying with the team at the training camp in Spain and is already looking forward to his new role: "I am so excited to continue working with my great love, Trek Factory Racing […] Cycling has always been an affair of the heart for me and I am delighted to be able to share my experiences with others and especially to instill this love of the sport among the younger riders. "
As much as he is looking forward to his new task, there is also a little melancholy, as he admits: "Of course it hurts a bit when the boys go to training in the morning and the 'old man' has to stay in the hotel." He will certainly get used to this situation too.
