Cycling: The former German professional cyclist Danilo Hondo will coach the Swiss U23 national road team.
From January 1, Hondo will be in the service of the Swiss association. With more than 20 years of experience on the track and in street sports, he should support the U23 team and put together a quick-witted squad.
Thomas Peter, head of the competitive sports division at Swiss Cycling, is convinced that he has found the right man for the young Swiss athletes in Hondo: "Danilo has a keen sense of tactics and can read races very well." that Hondo can pass this strength on to the next generation and ideally prepare the young drivers for the professional circus. Therefore, the association strives for a long-term cooperation.
The 41-year-old former professional cyclist Hondo, who only recently ended his career and has been living in Switzerland for several years, is delighted with his new role: "I'm looking forward to the task and see it as a challenge for me personally to work together with the young racing drivers in this way.” His plan is to build up a competitive team by the time of the World and European Championships.
