General: Bahnvierer: German record at the start of the World Cup

11 November 2014 by Andrew Waldera

Although the good performance of the German track four got a slightly bitter aftertaste due to a small form error, there is still enough reason to be happy. With a record run in the semi-finals of the 4000-meter team pursuit, the German best time set in December 2013 was again beaten.

At the start in Mexico, the track four with the rad-net ROSE team drivers Bommel, Reinhardt and Schomber as well as Rohde from the LKT Team Brandenburg improved the best time to a fantastic 3:57,507 minutes. In the following small final against Switzerland, however, there was a driver change, which unfortunately was not announced. A formal error that subsequently cost the German team third place, although they were able to beat Switzerland (3:57,828 minutes) on the track with a time of 3:57,867 minutes. The German cycling squad can still be satisfied. With important points, the goal of qualifying for the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 is getting closer.
