Cycling: In 2015 there will also be sprints in the international KMC MTB Bundesliga. The six organizers of the series will also have sprint competitions in their weekend program in the coming season.
Although the World Cup has said goodbye to the eliminator sprint as a discipline, the KMC MTB Bundesliga continues to focus on the elimination competition.
Introduced in 2008, the sprint has almost become a tradition in the German series and for the first world champions in this discipline (2012), Alexandra Engen and Ralph Näf, the KMC Bundesliga was the training ground years before.
Because the competition has established itself within the series, nothing speaks against a sequel. In 2015, too, the sprint will be included in the overall ranking with half the points.
"It's great that there's still a sprint in the Bundesliga. The competition is just fun”, says two-time world champion Alexandra Engen from the Ghost Factory Racing Team.
Even if there will no longer be a Sprint World Cup, European Championships, World Championships and German Championships will still be awarded in this discipline. The KMC Bundesliga series offers itself as a test field under competitive conditions.
There will probably be an exception in the six series. At the start, at the Bosch Gold Trophy Sabine Spitz in Bad Säckingen, a short race is to be run instead of an eliminator competition. This is also endowed with Bundesliga points.
