Market: As the bicycle accessory manufacturer Humpert announced yesterday, some models of its Ergotec Crab and High Crab stems may have defects in the clamp area. Since this represents a safety risk that should not be underestimated, the affected parts should no longer be driven.
According to Humpert, stems with the following serial numbers are affected:
- WH 5316 KN
- WH 5316 AO
- WH5316BO
- WH 5316 DO
- WH5316FO
- WH5316GO
The markings are on the underside of the stems, just behind the clamping area.
The potentially problematic parts were shipped from January 2014, so if the stem is older then there is no need to worry. However, if you bought a Crab or High Crab stem from Ergotec during this period, or a complete bike with a corresponding stem installed, we recommend a quick check.
If you are affected by the recall, you can simply contact the dealer where the stem or bike was purchased.
