Cycling: Henning Bommel gave the BDR the next medal at the European Railway Championships in Guadeloupe. The endurance specialist was only beaten by Frenchman Benjamin Thomas and Italian Liam Bertazzo in the points race.
Bommel had 40 points after 24 kilometers, while Thomas and Bertazzo had 37 and 30 points respectively. The good performance from a German point of view was underlined by Theo Reinhardt in eighth place. Gudrun Stock was also able to celebrate the same place in the women's scratch race, in which the Russian Evgenia Romanyuta secured the title. Lucas Liß is currently in ninth place in the Omnium, but still has the opportunity to improve in the final disciplines.
For the sprinters, however, the preliminary rounds were on the agenda. In these, Kristina Vogel and Robert Förstemann made it into the semi-finals. The Berliner by choice has to deal with the Frenchman Gregory Baugé. Vogel has to compete against Anastasiia Voinova.
