Test: Assos has made a name for itself among enthusiastic road cyclists in the past. This is partly due to the quality of Swiss products. When it comes to high-quality trousers, Assos is often regarded as the non-plus-ultra. With the new s7 series, the level was raised again last year.

This year the developers in Lugano surprised with a first MTB line, consisting of jersey and pants, whose endurance test was the Cape Epic in South Africa. Our test shows that the T. Rally s7-Pants lot of the four s7- street models, but is still idiosyncratic.

The first thing that catches the eye is the mix of fabrics in the pants. The pants, made from 55 percent polyamide and 45 percent elastane, are tight on the thighs, almost like compression. The narrow straps cross at the back and are cut so that the pants fit best when bent. The low waistline also fits into this concept.

At the front, the so-called KukuPenthouse convince. This also has to do with the special shape of the upholstery, after all it is shaped at the front in such a way that there is more space for the genitals.

The T. Rally s7 is water-repellent and is comfortable on the bike right from the start. This is also due to the multi-layer padding, which is not sewn to the trousers in the middle and thus significantly prevents friction.

In addition to the cut, special features of the pants are a pocket on the back, strap loops to hold the glasses in the chest area and the two pockets on the thighs, in which you can put the supplied glasses Impact Pads can stick. These should protect the hips in the event of a fall.

We wore the pants on both the cyclocrosser and the MTB. Although the seating positions differ, the pants felt at home in both areas. There was no discernible difference in terms of wearing comfort.

Conclusion

The Assos T. Rally s7 is based on the know-how of the racing bike pants of the S7 generation. However, the robust material and the cut are optimized for use in rough terrain. And here the first throw of the Swiss does not show any real weaknesses. Every detail seems well thought out, right down to the seams - which is to be expected for the price of 300 euros.
