Cycling: The World Championships in Ponferrada will have a premiere. For the first time in the history of the sport, part of the field of drivers will be equipped with onboard cameras, which not only allow recordings from the driver's point of view, but also show their current location.
In cooperation with Euromedia, the world cycling association UCI wants to hold a test run at the junior races on September 26th and 27th respectively, before they are also used in the elite races. The cameras are provided by the UCI's technical supplier, Shimano.
After the race there will also be separate clips that will be made available to the teams.
UCI President Brian Cookson says: "UCI's goal is to bring technology and innovation to reporting to provide fans with an even better experience."
