cycling: Team Giant-Alpecin: ALPECIN becomes another German sponsor in the WorldTour

September 24, 2014 by Marcus Degen

Cycling news: Giant-Shimano becomes Giant-Alpecin! Well then, yes; For a long time there had been speculation about a commitment by the Dr.Wolff Institute in Bielefeld. A Jedermann team has been supported for a long time and events such as the Alpecin Days were also very popular.

at Dr. Wolff is said to be the most successful business year in the company's 109-year history, and so it seems that the long-cherished desire to sponsor a top cycling team has finally been decided. With Giant-Shimano, the choice naturally fell on a conceivably suitable partner. Numerous German professionals in the team, plus the great successes of John Degenkolb and Marcel Kittel and the prospect of being on the podium once or twice in 2015 ... it doesn't get any better than that.

The final team structures should be found in the coming months. Another surprise coup is the active support and cooperation of the former news announcer Marc Bator. Team manager Iwan Spekenbrink underlines the alignment as a German team: "The partnership with Alpecin is a strong message, also to world cycling - our team now has a German heart."
