The Jedermann Mecklenburg Giro ended on Sunday with a thankless third place for Daniel Knyss. The captain of our Merkur Cycling Team had to cede victory to his toughest rival in the German Cycling Cup, Marek Bosniatzki from the Rad-Equipe Bürstner Duemo, and suffered a setback in the fight for the championship jersey.
With his sprint victory after 164 kilometers in front of Paul Sicking (Lock8 Cycling Team) and Daniel Knyss, defending champion Bosniatzki took the lead in the overall standings of the national racing series before the last two races. Daniel Knyss is now second overall with 3.767 points, 38 points behind Bosniatzki (3.805). Friedrich Schweizer, who finished fifth in the amateur race in Mecklenburg, follows with 3.739 points. The Merkur Druck riders Christian Dengler (6th), Stefan Räth (7th), Till Baltes (9th) and Christoph Mönig (10th) underline the team strength and unity of Merkur Cycling with their top ten places in the overall ranking teams.
