cycling: Maloja push bikers dominate the points race of the Bahn-DM and only just miss the title

Cycling: The Maloja Pushbikers Achim Burkart and Nico Heßlich would certainly have wished for a podium finish in the points race at the 128th Bahn-DM in Cottbus. Although both played a dominant role in the race, in the end they were narrowly defeated by Leon Rohde (LKT Team Brandenburg).

A total of 90 laps had to be covered on the Cottbusser Oval. In the end, a point decided the victory. Rohde secured a total of 20 points - one more than Burkart and Heßlich, who both scored 19 points.

The two Maloja Pushbikers rode offensively right from the start and secured the first rankings. “The team always had the course of the race under control. One of our drivers was in each escape group. Christian, Marcel and Leif had our backs for Nico and I, so we could focus on the sprints.", so Burkart after his silver ride.

“My mood is of course divided. On the one hand, I'm a bit annoyed that it wasn't enough for the very front. On the other hand, I'm super happy with silver and that my form is right," Burkart continued.

Team boss Christian Grasmann was also pleased: "I'm proud of both of them. Achim and Nico are the youngsters in our team and took on responsibility right from the start of the race.”
