cycling: Frank Schleck and Riccardo Zoidl will remain with Trek until at least 2016

September 2, 2014 by Marcus Degen

Le Tour de France 2014 - Stage Thirteen

News: At Trek Factory Racing they are happy that after some back and forth a contract extension with the Luxemburger Frank Schleck came about. Riccardo Zoidl also extended his contract, which ran until 2015, by another year.

Frank Schleck should remain an option for Trek for the role of captain for large tours; also for the somewhat more demanding profiled classics. Schleck had a solid 2014 season. He finished 12th in the Tour de France, won the national championships and was in good early form at Paris – Nice.

Schleck himself said about his contract extension: "I'm very happy to be able to continue working with the guys I've been with since 2011." Trek Factory Racing is something special for me - they're friends, not just teammates. It's just more fun to spend so much time on the road with friends. I had a difficult 18 months behind me, but the team had my back. I'm proud of my XNUMXth place finish on the Tour and I'm hoping to pay the team back with some more great results."

The Austrian Neo-Pro Zoidl also showed appealing performances in 2014. He defended his national title in June and his climbing skills and knack for racing against the clock make him a promising stage race contender. First and foremost, Zoidl sees the early contract extension as motivation to keep working hard.
