Lifestyle: The Cycling World Cup in St.Johann attracted numerous athletes to the area surrounding the Wilder Kaiser again this year. In total, the athletes reeled off more than 76.000 kilometers.
A large part of the medals went to Germany. Austria also presented itself strongly. However, the medals of Australia's Stephen Fairless, New Zealand's Gary Ulmer and Australia's Elizabeth Randall made the longest journey home.
The racing bike week in St. Johann in Tirol was also characterized by internationality this year: Participants from all over Europe, Israel, Iran, Mongolia, Brazil, Australia, the USA and even New Zealand took part in this sports spectacle. The team from Iran was particularly enthusiastic about the beautiful panorama along the route.
“I really appreciate that people from all over the world come to our sports event in St. Johann in Tirol. Even if we were able to register fewer participants this year - due to the bad weather and other cycling events - we are still very satisfied. Everything went well and we were able to celebrate many different winners from different nations.", OC boss Harald Baumann was satisfied.
The World Cycling Cup, which is an economic factor for the region every year - the "Workload [lies] at peak summer level", according to TVB Managing Director Gernot Riedel - has applied to the UCI as a qualifier for the 2015 UCI Cycling for all World Championships. “Our racing bike event should again become a UCI Cycling for all Qualifier. This means that masters and amateurs in St. Johann in Tirol again have the chance to qualify for the UCI Cycling for all World Championships.", sends Harald Baumann ahead.
The application for the UCI Cycling for all World Championships 2016 has already been submitted. “We would like to be the venue for this special racing bike spectacle. I think that in all the racing bike years we are perfectly suited as a World Championship location. The racing bike routes in our region are almost predestined for the competitions and we are hoping for a significant increase in the number of participants.", commented TVB managing director Gernot Riedel on the World Cup bid.
