Triathlon: The ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships is history. There were new title holders for both men and women.
The South African Conrad Stoltz traveled to Zittau with a total of three world titles in his luggage. However, he was not able to build on his performance from the previous year at the O-See. In the end he finished eighth. Meanwhile, the Spaniard Ruben Ruzafa, previously considered a favorite by many, secured victory. Last year's vice world champion showed himself to be on top of the action throughout the race and finally relegated the American Josiah Middaugh to second place by almost a minute. Third place went to Braden Currie from New Zealand.

In the women's category, Kathrin Müller, the only German elite starter, was able to celebrate the title. Their lead at the finish was also clear. Second-placed Flora Duffy of Bermuda was more than two minutes behind at the end. Third place went to the Czech titleholder Helena Erbenová.
