Product news: Giant Defy: All new for 2015

August 7, 2014 by the editorial office

Giant Defy 1

Giant has its comfort racer Defy completely revised for the model year 2015. A lighter frame and increased comfort should ensure that daily training is even more fun. There will be four trim levels in total.

Giant Defy Advanced SL 0

This is the top model of the new series Defy Advanced SLIt's the lightest road racer for endurance athletes the Taiwanese have ever built – at just 890 grams for a medium frame size and integrated seatpost. Adding the fork, headset, seat clamp, brackets, and small parts to this frame weight, the total weight is just under 1.500 grams.

The frame also has an extraordinary rigidity. "Thanks to the conical OverDrive 2-steerer and the massive Megadrive-down tube has that Defy Advanced SL an unparalleled frame and bottom bracket stiffness”, according to Giant.

The integrated, semicircular D fuse-seat post is designed to significantly reduce the weight compared to conventional, round seat posts, while having a rearward flexibility of up to 12 millimeters. It should ensure a smooth and comfortable driving experience. The post is known from the TCX Advanced cyclocross bike, where it has been used for some time.

The special layer structure of the composite material and the shape of the tubes, with ultra-thin and flattened seatstays, a low connection between the seatstays and seat tube and the slim, specially shaped fork head should also ensure a balanced, comfortable ride and prevent driver fatigue.

Giant builds that Advanced SL-Frame triangle with larger and therefore fewer composite layers, which reduces weight and increases the robustness of the tubes. A fully integrated, 86 millimeter wide bottom bracket housing sits in the solid bottom bracket area. Asymmetrical chainstays, in the Giants RideSensesensor is integrated should also contribute to the rigidity of the rear end. The internally routed cables ensure a clean look. The frame is specially designed for disc brakes - for optimal braking behavior in changing weather and different terrain.

Giant Defy 2

Defy Advanced Pro

The new Defy Advanced Pro has professional equipment, such as high-quality Giant PR-2wheels, a full carbon fork, a high-quality cockpit and a high-quality saddle. That's what it's all about Defy Advanced Pro primarily to semi-professional drivers Ready to Race-ambitions.

Giant Defy 3

DefyAdvanced

The DefyAdvanced is the entry into Giant's own GranFondo world - with disc brakes. Equipped with robust and high-quality components, the bike has the genes of its much more expensive series siblings.

Giant Defy 4

Defy AluxX SL
The Defy AluxX SL is the only aluminum frame racer in the series and, in contrast to the Afvanced models, does not have disc brakes but conventional rim brakes. Produced in the in-house aluminum forge and made from FluidForm AluxX SL aluminum tubes, it should Defy AluxX SL Combine comfort and control. Framework technologies include a OverDrive-Steer tube for outstanding rigidity and precise steering that D fuse-Seat post that perfectly dampens vibrations as well as an oversized one PowerCore-Bottom bracket for maximum rigidity and efficient power transmission.
