Product news: Carbon Superbike: Haibike with the first carbon fully e-bike

July 25, 2014 by Marcus Degen

Haibike_XDuro

E-Performance: Haibike is presenting a premiere for the e-bike world: the XDuro full carbon, the first full carbon bike with a Bosch mid-engine. The carbon frame impresses with organic proportions, with the Haibike-typical double kink on the top tube and the best stiffness values. Equipped with various carbon components such as cranks, seat posts, wheels and handlebars, the XDuro FullCarbon Ultimate will be available in specialist shops from spring 2015 in three different configurations.

The main frame, rear triangle and rocker are made from a specially developed carbon fiber monocoque. The fiber should ensure the best stiffness and thus withstand tougher loads in the field. A high-precision milled aluminum inlet was laminated in hybrid construction at the neuralgic contact points to the engine to ensure maximum reliability. The XDuro is driven by a Bosch-Performance mid-engine, which was fully integrated into the frame with the help of the SkidPlate. For the first time, the SkidPlate is also made of carbon and serves as a load-bearing and stabilizing frame component. The replaceable underbody protection made of carbon protects the drive from damage.

The disadvantages of the drive-related, small pinion are offset by the Haibike Sprocket Equalizing System Balanced: The pully wheel redirects the chain at the pivot point and simulates a larger chain ring.

We find that particularly interesting Nyon "all in one" eBike computer, the eBike controller, navigation system and fitness trainer in one device. The 4,3-inch display shows elementary e-bike information and also has a bike-optimized navigation system. This not only allows the driver to find the right way, but also intelligently calculates the remaining range, taking into account the topography and driving behavior. The Bluetooth connection also allows the use of a heart rate chest strap and the music player can be controlled or text messages can be read via the smartphone connection. The user can set which information is shown on the display and where it is located.

Depending on the equipment variant, the Haibike XDuro Carbon shines with exquisite components: The SID XX WorldCup fork with 120 mm spring travel comes from Rock Shox, and a Rock Shox Monarch XX damper is used; it will roll on light Bike Ahead biturboS monocoque carbon wheels with Schwalbe Thunder Burt EVO tires. The Shimano XTR Di2 11-speed gears and hydraulic disc brakes round off the equipment package.

The bike will be available from spring 2015 in three different configurations as XDuro FullCarbon ULTIMATE, XDuro FullCarbon PRO and XDuro FullCarbon RX in three frame sizes, 40, 45 and 50cm.
