Product news: POC Cerebel: New aero helmet for the start of the Giro

8 May 2014 by the editorial office

POC

When the Giro d'Italia starts tomorrow in Belfast, the Garmin-Sharp team riders will be wearing a completely newly developed aero helmet cerebellum start the team time trial.

The helmet was developed in the wind tunnel with Volvo and Watts Lab. For POC founder Stefan Ytterborn, the matter is very clear: “The Cerebel completes our road helmet range. Octal, Octal Aero, Cerebel and Tempor all have their specialties in which each helmet offers the rider the optimum – to save watts and seconds.”

POC is one of the most successful helmet manufacturers for alpine ski racers. It's about very high speeds. This experience flowed massively into the development of the Cerebel. Giro co-favorite Dan Martin and his teammates Jack Bauer (photo) and Andrew Talansky were particularly involved in the wind tunnel tests.

The Cerebel won't be available to us mere mortals in bike shops until 2015.
