Product news: Garmin TransAlpin V4 PRO – The Eastern Alps at a glance

With the new Garmin TransAlpin V4 PRO navigation specialist Garmin is releasing a completely revised version of its popular, transnational map of the Eastern Alps in the basic scale of 1:25.000. It offers high map quality throughout the coverage area and access to 60.000 km of mountain bike trails and around 40.000 km of hiking trails. The proven Active Routing-Technology allows routes to be calculated and paths and other markers to be highlighted depending on the preset activity (e.g. hiking, mountaineering, touring cycling, mountain biking).

Features and functions

  • High quality maps throughout the coverage area at a scale of 1:25.000
  • Cover: Germany (south from Lake Starnberg), Austria (Tyrol, Vorarlberg, Salzburg, western Carinthia to Villach and Gurktal Alps, small parts of Upper Austria with Attersee, Traunsee and Styria to Schladminger Tauern), Italy (South Tyrol, Trentino, Friuli, Veneto to the south of Verona, Lombardy large parts to Lake Como and Milan), Switzerland (Thurgau to Weinfelden, St. Gallen to the west of Walensee, Appenzell, Graubünden and East Glarus), Liechtenstein (complete), Slovenia (Detail with Julian Alps)
  • Approx. 60.000 km of mountain bike trails including 14.000 km MTB TransAlp network with numerous special Alpine crossings, including many classics
  • Approx. 40.000 km of hiking trails such as E5, Via Alpina (red, violet, yellow, green), Via Claudia, Munich-Venice, Austrian long-distance hiking trails, Dolomite high-altitude trails 1 to 10, Brenta Trek and many more
  • Extended and searchable point of interest database for leisure and travel use, eg destinations, mountain huts, outdoor shops, bike shops
  • 3.000 km of designated cycle paths
  • Searchable street names

The scope of delivery includes a DVD for installation on the PC or Mac and a pre-programmed microSD card. This is immediately ready for use on any suitable computer or Garmin GPS device - without installation or activation. The new Garmin TransAlpin V4 PRO is expected to be available from the end of May at a price of 179 euros.
