Clothing: TwoWheelCool Toe Cap: Warm toes in wind and weather

15 April 2014 by Veit Hammer

two1

The Australian company TwoWheelCool is new to the German market and is trying to gain a solid foothold with its colorful portfolio. It can be assumed that she will succeed in this, after all the Australians follow a similar approach to the manufacture of their products as Knog's compatriots: high-quality silicone paired with a simple or garish appearance and easy handling.

equipment and practice

With regard to the toe cap we have decided on a simple pair suitable for everyday use. The black covers are made of medically tested silicone and are therefore an interesting alternative to toe warmers made of neoprene, even for allergy sufferers. These offer the antistatic and antibacterial toe cap also another advantage. Due to the material chosen, they are much more robust and can therefore also be used on MTB shoes. In general, the cleat opening allows the use of many pedal systems. Our test model is true to size Wide. It can be easily slipped over the shoe and is comfortably snug without compressing the shoe. Halt offers the toe cap including the rear strap of the cleat recess, which is tightened and clamps behind the cleats. Additionally clings the slightly stretchable silicone adapts to the shoes due to its material properties.

A really good feature is the care behavior of the toe cap. They're as easy to put on as they are to take off after a workout. Dirt residues can then be easily rinsed off under running water. If that's not enough, you can toe cap According to the manufacturer, you can also put it in the dishwasher. The heat behavior of the silicone warmers is excellent. Especially in the transitional period, when overshoes are sometimes too warm, the toe cap proves to be a reliable companion. They offer neither spray nor the cool wind a target. This means you can get on your bike early in the morning with summer socks on. Should it get too warm on the way, then the toe cap also easily stowed in the jersey pocket.

Conclusion

The TwoWheelCool toe cap are an interesting alternative to conventional neoprene toe warmers for the transitional period. With a purchase price of just under 30 euros, they are not necessarily cheap. But they make up for it with their performance. They are cleanly worked, versatile and convincing in use. Another plus: If you decide on a colored variant, then you definitely have the eyes of the others on your side.
