cycling: Cyprus Sunshine Cup with World Cup start list

February 20rd 2014 by the editorial office

afxentia

A week before the Cyprus Sunshine Cup starts with the Afxentia stage race, a large number of the world's best female mountain bikers can be found on the entry list. In recent years, the level of the cup has increased steadily. Accordingly, we are proud to be able to cope with the start of the cup with several world champions and Olympic champions.

In addition to the three-time Olympic medalist Sabine Spitz, there are also Maja Wloszczowska, world champion from 2010, and the Ghost Trio around Alexandra Engen, Katrin Leumann and Elisabeth Osl. Leumann won the Cyprus Sunshine Cup last year and had a successful start to the season. Many of her competitors want to do the same and so in the past few weeks more and more well-known drivers have been added. Annika Langvad is currently preparing for the Absa Cape Epic and will be putting the finishing touches on her form as part of the cup.

Cyprus1

The nine-time world champion and MTB legend Gunn-Rita Dahle-Flesjaa will also start on the sunny island of Cyprus. With her huge wealth of experience, she is considered one of the strongest drivers in the field. Linda Indergand, bronze medalist at last year's XCE World Championships, also signed up for the race and so all of the 2013 World Championships medal winners are at the start in Cyprus.

The cup opener, the four-day Afxentia stage race, takes place from February 27th to March 2nd and will give us an insight into the current form of almost all of the top female riders.
